José James’ new album “Yesterday I Had The Blues: The Music of Billie Holiday” will be released February 3rd in Japan and March 31st worldwide on Blue Note Records. The album is produced by Don Was and featuring Jason Moran on piano, John Patitucci on bass, Eric Harland on drums. It’s James tribute to one of the greatest jazz singers of all time. José James has announced a June 10 release date for his new album, “While You Were Sleeping”, his fifth studio album and his second album for Blue Note Records. “While You Were Sleeping” is the follow-up to his widely acclaimed R&B and jazz steeped “No Beginning No End”, and signals a new creative direction for the versatile singer-songwriter. Ascendant trumpeter and composer Takuya Kuroda makes his Blue Note debut with the release of “Rising Son”, produced by José James. The album finds Kuroda stepping forth to helm James’ remarkable band (keyboardist Kris Bowers, bassist Solomon Dorsey, drummer Nate Smith, trombonist Corey King) plus vocal contributions from James (“Everybody Loves The Sunshine”) and a guest appearance from imaginative guitarist Lionel Loueke (“Afro Blues”). After releasing his Blue Note debut “No Beginning No End” to wide acclaim in January, the genre-bending singer-songwriter José James has released the 5-song “Come To My Door” EP. The EP features remixes of NBNE tracks by José‘s frequent collaborator Taylor McFerrin, as well as FaltyDL, Oddisee, and Flako. It also includes the radio mix of “Come To My Door” written by Emily King. Available on iTunes.
