“Shapes: Rectangles” is the latest in Tru Thoughts’ series of essential label compilations, compiled by A&R and label co-owner Robert Luis. 2014 sees Tru Thoughts celebrating its 15th Birthday, and this compilation illuminates a hothouse of musical talent, bringing a wealth of newer signings in amongst the more established artists on the label.

The first CD contains tracks by Lost Midas and Werkha, two exciting young producers based on opposite sides of the Atlantic, Harleighblu which is the latest singing, a leftfield remix of Harleighblu comes from Astro Raw, Hot 8 Brass Band bring boisterous brass and Quantic appearswith his new track from ‘Magnetica’ . Essential hip hop cuts come from Rodney P, Ty (remixed by DJ Spinna) and Dizz1 (featuring Aloe Blacc). The second CD raises the tempo for dancefloors of all shapes and sizes. DC Breaks on remix duties provides a drum & bass rocker, while drum & bass legend Peshay showcases his change of direction with some tropical disco; elsewhere the flavours range from the deep bass of Zed Bias, via the inventive house music of Titeknots, to FBR’s jungle spin on Wrongtom, and beyond. Available now on iTunes or Bandcamp.
